October Happenings!

New Yarns

Scanning through Ravelry projects, have you seen the Nightshift made in Noro Ito? Some people used two colors of Ito and others used Ito and Silk Garden Solo. Well if you loved them as much as we do, we’ve just restocked our Noro with lots of beautiful new colors in both yarns. We’ve also added new colors in Kiri, Tennen, and Sonata—you’re going to want to see these.

A cozy blanket to snuggle up in is always a good thing. The new book Timeless Noro Knit Blankets offers plenty of inspiration. I do believe the Leaf Afghan will be seen on my couch later this winter. I love the way Noro’s solids and variegated yarns intermingle. If you’re looking for a smaller-scale project, the Slip Stitch Cowl is the perfect example of Silk Garden and Silk Garden Solo combining for a beautiful piece. The pattern is free with yarn purchase.

Looking for something new in a cotton/linen blend? We’ve added a bunch of colors in Juniper Moon Farm Zooey. If you want some yarn for a cozy winter sweater, we’ve added Juniper Moon Farm Santa Cruz, a worsted weight 100% organic merino, in some great fall colors. For those of you that prefer a non-wool option we have Juniper Moon Farms Cumulus and Bud. Maybe you want something special for an evening out; we’ve added new colors in their Stargazer llama/silk blend that are also lovely.

We have a bevy of new yarns and fiber from Lorna’s Laces, Spindle Warp, Wool Gatherings, and Lavender Sheep. Some of our favorites Blue Sky Fibers and Dream in Color are stocked with lots of new colors. Along with the blanket book, we have Swoon Maine, Pom Pom Mag’s latest issue, and Coco Knits Sweater Book and Workbook. We have inspiration in spades.

Events

Fiber Fusion is just around the corner—Saturday and Sunday October 19-20, at the fairgrounds in Monroe. Please stop by the booth and say hello. You might want to check out our Sherlocked Shawl kits—we’ve put together some amazing colors in yarns by Earl Grey Fibers, Trilogy Yarns and Madeline Tosh. These kits can also be used for the Tilted Cowl! We will also be showcasing some our newest yarns from local makers. Beautiful color, beautiful selection, so much yarn goodness all in one place.

Fiber Day on Saturday, November 2

We’re super-excited to announce our first ever Fiber Day on Saturday, November 2 at Quintessential Knits Yarn Shop. Stop by to see expert spinner/Dyer Barbara Seeler demonstrating how to spin a from a batt. Ever wanted to use a drum carder? She’ll have them set up for you to learn the process. Yvonne of Lavender Sheep will be demonstrating her amazing weaving skills. Come bring your friends and enjoy this and more! We will be having a great sale too!

Fall Crochet Along

The Leaves Cascade Sweater by Ana D is just too cute not to make. Get out your crochet hooks, and we’ll be working on this lovely piece together Thursday afternoons from 1-3 pm, November 7, November 21, and December 5. The pattern is available for $5.50 on Ravelry. We’ve chosen Studio Donegal’s Darnie, a lovely, tweedy, fingering weight yarn, to make a whisper-light layering piece. Sign up now, so you can be part of the fun. Fall Knit Along

Paloma by Thea Coleman is our Fall Knit Along this year! It is knit using a chunky yarn, perfect for the coming cooler months. Megan will take us through construction on Mondays starting November 4th. The cost to join is $5.00 per person and the yarn and pattern are 10% off. From the designer, “Paloma is warm and cozy, but delicate and feminine and perfect for warm-ing up weather. I’ve been dying for a deep, slouchy cardigan I can throw over a spring dress or delicate top and this is it. I love how bulky yarn takes this motif and I’ve added a few details that play off of the double seed - single ribs that stand out from the stitches and more pronounced seams along the sides. More delicate seams at the shoulder keep the sweater feeling light and flattering, and the transition between ribbing and the body is kind of cool. Plus, pockets! Who does not love pockets!?”
