It’s one of our favorite times of year. When it’s rainy and blustery outside,
don’t you just want to cozy up by the fire and grab your knitting or crocheting?
I love a beautiful ball of yarn with all the possibilities. Quality tools add so much joy to the process. That’s why we’ve teamed with a local woodworker who’s making hand-crafted Nostepinnes for our little shop. We have them in Cherry, Oak, Red Cedar, Poplar, Walnut, Mahogany, Red Heart and Purple Heart. For those times when a ball winder just doesn’t work, a nostepinne makes leftovers skeins into tidy balls of yarn. You’ll find hand-winding with a nostepinne turns into a relaxing meditation. Come in and choose from our new selection or order something special all your own.
The 6th Annual Yarn Tasting—Quintessential Knits birthday celebration and customer appreciation will be held on Friday, December 7, from 6-9 pm, and Saturday, December 8, from 11 am-2 pm and from 6-9 pm. As always, Judy has a few special surprises up her sleeve just for you. Plan on attending one of the sessions and enjoying food, yarn, patterns, and fun. Call or stop by to Sign u as space is limited and it fills up fast!
Here at Quintessential, we’ve got some beautiful new yarns to keep you inspired. Our good friends at Intrepid Otter are branching out again with Nubbly—a lovely sock yarn with all sorts of tweedy goodness. We’ve also stocked up on their original sock yarn in lots of beautiful colors.
For more sock inspiration, we turned to Schoppel Boots.
This wool/cotton blend in a marled twist would be the
perfect match for socks to go with your favorite boots.
Now, you’re thinking a cozy sweater would be just the thing to ward off the chill. How about Prairie Spun from Brown Sheep Company? It’s a 3-ply, DK in 100% wool. We’ve got it in lots of luscious, rich colors. I’m feeling cozier already. We also carry their Lamb’s Pride, Lanaloft, and Nature Spun in worsted and have added Lamb’s Pride Bulky to round out the family.
But you’re looking for something a little different. Let’s talk wool, yak and linen? We have Nua from Stolen Stitches in beautiful harvest colors. This sport weight yarn is so squishy, so soft, so yummy it’s calling to you.
Holiday Inspiration from the Shop
When asked what to knit for friends and family, Ellen suggested the Miss Marple Scarf by Susanne S. This is a free Ravelry download that calls for worsted weight yarn. She chose the soft and lovely Best of Nature from Misti Alpaca. This knits up quickly in garter stitch with some simple, clever shaping for an elegant gift. Ellen used only one skein of yarn making it affordable for all your friends.
Want to try something new? Yoke sweaters are literally everywhere. And yes, yes you can make your own. We have faith in you. And come January, Megan will be guiding you through the process. This is more of a coaching session rather than a formal class, but spots fill up quickly. So clear your calendar for Wednesday mornings, 10-noon, January 9, 16, and 30. Cost will be $10 per session.
