JUNE KAL  -  Lento Sweater   $20

Are you interested in knitting a sweater but wish you could have someone to "hold your hand" every step of the way?  Then join our Lento KAL this June!  The Lento is a beginner-friendly sweater pattern with a classic raglan style.  The KAL will be run on Mondays (10 am to 1 pm) throughout June and we will guide you through every step, including how to choose the right yarn to get the look you want, how to measure yourself and select the right size, what to do if you don't "get gauge" and how to modify the pattern instructions for the fit you want.  In order to participate, you must purchase yarn for your Lento sweater at Quintessential Knits.  There is also a participation fee of $20 to cover the cost of the pattern for each participant and extra staffing during the KAL.

Dates for the Lento KAL:

Monday June 5 (10am - 1pm) - We will review the pattern together and you will select your yarn and knit a swatch.   We will help you select the size to knit based on your measurements, your swatch and the fit you want.  You will cast on and start the neckline.  You will finish knitting the neckline at home.

Monday June 12 (10am - 1pm) - We will discuss how a raglan yoke is constructed and explain how you can make modifications to the pattern instructions to get your perfect fit and style.  You will start the yoke and finish it at home.

Monday June 19 (10am - 1pm) - We will guide you through how to set aside the stitches for your sleeves.  We will then discuss your options for shaping the body of your sweater in order to achieve the fit you want.  You will continue knitting the body at home.

Monday June 26 (10am - 1pm)  - We will show you how to pick up stitches and knit your sleeves, including how to shape your sleeves for the look you want.  We will also discuss your options for knitting a small circumference (magic loop? dpns? small circulars?) and guide you in your choice.  Finally, we will discuss bind off options for your cuffs and hem.  You will finish your sweater at your own pace, but you are not on your own!  We will continue to be here throughout the process to help with any questions or problems you encounter along the way.
