December Secrets & Surprises

December is a time for parties, secrets, and surprises. It’s a time for family and fun and gifts from the heart and at Quintessential Knits we’ve got you covered.

New Treats

Our birthday celebration was oh-so fun. Thank you to all our loyal customers who came and made it so special. And now, the wait is over and we can share all our surprises with you.

We’ve added three new dyers to our collection of yarns. Check out lovely, pre-packaged Find Your Fade sets from Earl Gray Fiber Co Heather, a local dyer out of Bothell, has put together kits ranging in color from grayed down pastels to vibrant jewel and earth tones.

We’re also excited to offer Fiber & Hue by Krista, another local dyer. She sent us her Go to—DK in luscious, saturated colors along with some soft neutrals and a few speckled colorways just for fun. This yarn is a dream to work with and makes up beautifully.

A chance meeting over the summer led to our third new yarn—Hole in the Wool. Alesha, out of Utah, was just getting started when she stopped by the shop. Now we’re proud to be able to offer her Grand Bulky and Bliss Sock in beautiful earth-tones, speckles and lovely squishability. Come in and check out the great stitch definition.

Old Friends

And then our good friends at Intrepid Otter sent us some long-gradient DK cakes. From vibrant to muted the colors are amazing. These are perfect for Damask, a striking brioche cowl.

Intrepid Otter also sent their latest offering—Halo KidSilk Lace. This mohair/silk blend is dyed to match their DK colorways and will add that special touch to any project.

New Traditions & Old

We’re excited to present our first annual Christmas stocking pattern. “Go Tell It on the Mountain” is available at the shop. Her daughter Annie Stedman designed the concept and Judy turned it into a classic colorwork knit stocking pattern. It was a quick and satisfying knit in a few of our favorites including Cedar House, Rowan and Dream In Color.

A tradition we continue to enjoy is the quick kits for ornaments and gifts.

The staff picked Blossom Birds, Leafy Washcloth, Christmas Bauble, and Leaf Coasters (all free designs on Ravelry). And Judy designed very sweet Snowy Tree Gift Bags for all the little treasures you want to share. These kits make quick, last minute gifts to make or give to your favorite yarn lover. Kits are now available.

Warding Off the Chill

As the temperatures continue to drop, a hat is the perfect way to ward off the chill, and we have new hat patterns to inspire you.

Mountains Are Calling Hat is a classic knit hat with two-color ribbing and some lovely colorwork. It would be a great way to try this technique.

The Slouchy Chapeaux was inspired by a trip to Iceland. With surface design, tassels, and ties, it’s anything but basic. Try out this crochet pattern when you’re looking for something new.

That Special Gift

If you’re looking for that perfect gift for that special someone, our local woodworker has been crafting wood yarn bowls with striking resin accents and is now taking special orders.

Happy Holidays

May the joy of the season fill your hearts and lives. If the craziness overtakes you, know that you always have an oasis here with friendly people, beautiful yarn, and a quiet corner.

Wishing you all the best.

Meredith, Kim, Judy, Ellen and Megan
