A Familiar Face Joins Our Team

Many of you have enjoyed Megan Kint’s classes here at the shop, and we’re over-the-top excited to have her join the team on a regular basis.

Welcome Megan!

Megan’s mom taught her to crochet at an early age, but it wasn’t until she spent a year in Sweden that she became interested in knitting. Her host taught her to make a simple scarf. Back home in the States, she turned again to her mom for help with knitting. A confirmed crocheter, she had trouble switching the yarn to her right hand and ended up teaching her mom the continental way.

Knitting was just a hobby she did with her mom till she joined a knitting group 10 years ago and has been passionate about it ever since. A mother of three, she has shared her joy of crafting with her middle child. They have spent many evenings watching movies and preparing fleece together.

Those of you who’ve taken her three-part sock class have benefited from her love of sock knitting. She’s knitted over 30 pairs of socks in the quest for the perfect fit. She has a list of sock patterns she’s dying to knit up and a large stash of sock yarn to go with them.

Her other great love in knitting is stranded colorwork. Part of the reason is the influence of living in Sweden. So much of the Scandinavian heritage really appeals to her—the patterns, designs, colors, and simplicity. Don’t be surprised if you see a stranded colorwork class in the fall.

Megan loves challenges and is constantly exploring new techniques to improve her own knitting. Megan and her hubby have three children—two are grown and the third is a senior in high school. She has a Yorkie named Pretzel, a Blue Burmese cat named Zucchini (aka Moosey).

Vacation Knitting and Crocheting

I like to have a simple pattern to work on during long road trips or plane flights. I have a bad habit of setting my work down for a minute and losing my crochet hook under the seat. A knitting pattern, circular needles, and a center-pull skein have become my go-to for travel.

Reyna, by Noora Backlund, is a free Ravelry download featuring one skein of Malabrigo Sock. This shawl is designed to highlight all the beautiful color changes. We still have some beautiful Malabrigo, or go your own way with Intrepid Otter, Sweet Georgia’s Tough Love Sock, or Mountain Color’s Crazyfoot. So many wonderful choices.
